Daniel is a partner in our Munich office and a core member of McKinsey’s Travel, Logistics & Infrastructure Practice. He works with aviation and aerospace companies on strategy, operations, and decarbonization topics with a particular expertise in aviation ground and flight operations. Together with the World Economic Forum’s Clean Skies for Tomorrow coalition, Daniel assessed options to decarbonize aviation through scaling sustainable aviation fuel. Examples of recent client work include: Evaluating the airport automation opportunity form the perspective of a leading GSE full-service rental player Leading the transformation of a national airline to improve profitability and enable growth and fleet renewal Optimizing the SAF procurement strategy of a major air cargo airline to support an ambitious decarbonization strategy Identifying options to improve crew and aircraft productivity for a European low-cost carrier Assessing the eVTOL market opportunity and identifying attractive value chain steps to engage in Shaping the digital strategy of a global aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul provider Before joining McKinsey, Daniel worked as a commercial airline pilot at Lufthansa, qualified for both Airbus A320 and Boeing 747. During that time, he supported various projects (biofuel, strategy, humanitarian logistics) and conducted Lufthansa’s first biofuel flight.
