Michał Lejk is the Mayor of Warsaw’s Plenipotentiary for the New Centre of Warsaw and Deputy Director of the Road Traffic Management Office (BZRD) at Warsaw City Hall. A graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology, he has been involved in the development of the Polish capital for more than 20 years.
In his work, he combines engineering precision with systems thinking and a vision of a city that operates in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. As the Mayor of Warsaw’s Plenipotentiary for the New Centre of Warsaw, he is responsible for preparing and implementing initiatives aimed at transforming the city centre into a more resilient, inclusive and resident-friendly urban space. These projects reflect the principles of the circular economy by prioritising the quality of public spaces, efficient use of resources, green mobility, and conditions that support local social and economic activity.
At the same time, as Deputy Director of BZRD – and previously Deputy Director of the Infrastructure Office – as well as the Mayor of Warsaw’s Plenipotentiary for the Coordination of Investment and Renovation Works within Road Corridors, he oversees the effective implementation of investment and renovation projects, integrating technical infrastructure with residents’ needs and the city’s long-term vision of climate neutrality.
Working with representatives of diverse sectors – from urban planners and engineers to civil society organisations, artists and businesses – he brings together different perspectives to create urban spaces that support quality of life, culture and sustainable development.
