Konrad Popławski leads the Centre for Eastern Studies’ (OSW) work on economic and transport issues. His areas of expertise include economic development and EU foreign trade, as well as connectivity and global transport corridors. He is the author of numerous analyses and more than a dozen in-depth studies on the economic development of Central European countries and Germany, as well as Eurasian transport corridors. From 2020 to 2022, he headed OSW’s Central European Department, having previously spent a decade as an analyst specialising in the German economy. He has coordinated and participated in international research teams and co-authored strategic documents and expert reports for public administration. He has also organised numerous analytical and industry conferences.
He regularly delivers guest lectures at Polish universities, including the University of Warsaw and the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, and gives presentations at conferences, including at the European Parliament. He is a frequent participant in panel discussions and provides commentary for Polish and international media, including the Polish Press Agency (PAP), Bloomberg, Foreign Affairs, Le Monde and Politico. He was awarded his PhD with distinction by the SGH Warsaw School of Economics for his doctoral dissertation entitled Changes in Germany’s Foreign Trade Following Its Accession to the Euro Area.
