Freyja Pérez is a criminologist by training and the CEO of Snailstep, a Spanish startup that connects walkability, public health, and urban data to promote more sustainable, active, and inclusive cities. With a strong focus on people and territory, she leads a multidisciplinary team developing technological solutions to measure, incentivize, and certify active mobility in both urban and rural settings.
Snailstep was born out of the need to reconnect people with their environment through the everyday act of walking — reclaiming its value as a tool for social and climate transformation. Today, the company is building an integrated approach that combines its own technology (mobile app), citizen-driven co-creation spaces (StepLabs), and an urban walkability certification system. Together, these elements generate real-time data, activate communities, and guide urban planning towards public well-being. Freyja is also an EU Climate Pact Ambassador, where she advocates for more human-centered and sustainable mobility across Europe.
