Mateusz Bączkowski is a manager and legal counsel with extensive experience in corporate management, ownership supervision, corporate law, compliance, and sector-specific regulation. Over the years, he has held key management and supervisory positions in companies of significant importance to the economy, as well as in public administration institutions. He has been responsible for strategic business processes, organizational transformations, risk management, and the development of corporate governance frameworks. He has extensive experience leading legal and corporate functions within large corporate groups, delivering restructuring projects and M&A transactions, and managing relationships with regulators and market stakeholders. A significant part of his professional career has been dedicated to the aviation sector. He served as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), one of the key global bodies shaping policy and regulation in the sector. He also served on the ICAO Air Transport Regulation Panel, an expert body responsible for developing international standards for air transport. He represented Poland and Polish entities at international organizations and industry bodies, including IATA and Star Alliance. His professional experience includes positions at the Polish Aviation Group (PGL), LOT Polish Airlines, the Polish Spa Group, and the Civil Aviation Authority, where he was responsible for strategic, corporate, and regulatory matters, supporting the development of organizations operating in highly complex and heavily regulated environments. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw and is a qualified legal counsel. He completed the Business Leader Development Programme at the University of Oxford, as well as the prestigious High-Level Aviation Security Management Programme at the Singapore Aviation Academy, delivered under the auspices of ICAO and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and designed for senior aviation executives. In recognition of his achievements, he was recognised by Legal 500, which named him among the most influential in-house lawyers in Europe. He is also a recipient of the Canada–Poland Chamber of Commerce Excellence Award in the category of Travel Industry Leader of the Year.
