Michał Zabdyr-Jamróz

Michał Zabdyr-Jamróz holds a PhD in Political Science and is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Public Health of the Jagiellonian University Medical College. He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Zdrowie Publiczne i Zarządzanie” and the Institute of Public Health’s popular science blog. He collaborates with the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies in Brussels and the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience, and is a guest lecturer at the University of Copenhagen. He specialises in the analysis of health systems and policies, as well as the political and socioeconomic determinants of health. In his book “Wszechstronniczość” (Jagiellonian University Press, 2023), he develops an alternative to the principle of impartiality, advocating the consideration of expert knowledge, self-interest and emotions in pursuit of better, more democratic policymaking. He promotes the principles of deliberative democracy and the use of Health Impact Assessment (HIA) in spatial planning. He is also the author of numerous popular science publications.
