Krzysztof Jóźwiak is a professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Medical University of Lublin. His research focuses on molecular pharmacology and medicinal chemistry, particularly substances acting on membrane receptors with potential applications in the treatment of neurodegenerative and lifestyle-related diseases. He has co-authored more than 100 publications, two international patents and over a dozen plenary lectures presented at international conferences. He is the editor and co-author of the monograph Drug Stereochemistry: Analytical Methods and Pharmacology (2013). He has led research grants funded by the State Committee for Scientific Research (KBN) and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW), has been a recipient of the Foundation for Polish Science’s FOCUS and TEAM programmes, and participated in a consortium carrying out a project commissioned by the US National Institutes of Health.
He completed two postdoctoral fellowships: the first at the National Institute on Aging, NIH, in Baltimore, USA (2001–2004), and the second at the Biomodelling Laboratory of the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (2005–2007). In 2023, he was a visiting professor at the University of Bologna in Italy and has received both team and individual scientific awards from the Polish Minister of Health. In 2012, he received the UCB-Ehrlich Award for Excellence in Medicinal Chemistry, presented by the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry.
From 2012 to 2020, prof. Krzysztof Jóźwiak was a member of the Council of the National Science Centre (NCN), where his roles included chairing the Life Sciences Committee. Since October 2023, he has served as Director of the NCN.
