Ryszard Gruda

Architect at the IARP, Vice-President of the National Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland for Legislation, member of the Polish Council of Architecture, the Gdańsk Council of Architecture, and the Ministerial Advisory Team for the Development of the National Architectural Policy (MRiT).

From 1980 to 1990, he was a member of the Presidium of the SARP Main Board and its representative in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland as an expert on matters related to spatial development and housing policy, among others. From 1990 to 2002, he served as Vice-Mayor of Gdańsk (three times), responsible for the city’s development, advisor to the Minister of Spatial Development and Construction, director of the Gdańsk Pomerania Development Agency, lecturer at the University of Administration and Business in Gdynia, and judge of architectural competitions. During the 4th term of office of the National Council of the Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland, he served as its President. He gained professional experience, among others, in as the head of the studio within the Gdańsk-based „Twórczość Architektoniczna” cooperative. Since 2002, he has run the RG Investment Office. He is the author and co-author of numerous urban and architectural projects. For his „outstanding contributions to democratic change in Poland,” he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta by the President of the Republic of Poland.
