Ruben Lațcău (born 1988) is a Romanian politician serving as Deputy Mayor of Timișoara. First appointed in February 2021 and re-elected in November 2024, he coordinates major municipal investments and city-scale infrastructure programs. His public profile is anchored in pragmatic, results-oriented governance. Educated at the University of Oradea (Economic Engineering in the Mechanical Field, 2008–2014), Lațcău spent more than a decade in the automotive industry before entering public service. His private-sector roles included Mechanical Project Manager and later Team Leader at Continental, following earlier engineering posts with Valiant TMR Ro and International Engineeringand Technologies. He is married and became a father for the second time in 2025. As Deputy Mayor, Lațcău’s portfolio has included urban regeneration, public transport and utilities infrastructure, and the coordination of strategic investment projects, often leveraging European
funds. Initiatives under his watch range from modernization of tram infrastructure to large renewal programs for the city’s historic quarters, emphasizing accessibility, green space, and step-by-step delivery that reduces disruption. Politically, he is affiliated with the Save Romania Union (USR) and serves as Vice President of USR Timiș, the county-level branch of the party. He has used his platform to argue for administrative decentralization – moving certain competencies closer to city halls to streamline decisions on construction discipline, public order, and environmental enforcement.
