Ardalan Vahidi is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University, South Carolina where he directs the Energy Efficient Mobility Lab. His research is focused on energy efficient mobility, automated and connected vehicles, and electrified transportation. His work has been supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the National Science Foundation, and research labs of BMW, Ford, GM, Cummins, and Eaton.
He is a Fellow of IEEE and ASME. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (2005), M.Sc. in Transportation Safety from George Washington University (2002), and B.S. and M.Sc. degrees from Sharif University of Technology (1996, 1998). He has held visiting scholar positions at the University of California, Berkeley (2012–2013), and the University of California, San Diego (2022), and scientific visiting appointments at BMW Technology Office in California (2012–2013) and IFP Energies Nouvelles in Paris (2017).
