Sustainable urban mobility

Transport GZM means new possibilities for comfortable travel around the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis and its surroundings – this is an offer for over 2.5 million passengers, each of whom has different needs and requirements

Metroapp

In Metroapp, passengers will find a convenient method for purchasing tickets for public transport and save money by choosing a ticket that best suits their needs. They will also benefit from attractive solutions, such as Start/Stop travel, which allows for settling 5-, 10- and 15-minute journeys

Metrorobike

Metrobike is the largest city bike system in Poland – over 7,000 bikes, 920 stations and 31 locations. Holders of medium- or long-term tickets in the Transport GZM system can use Metrorower for 60 minutes a day, without additional fees

Metrorail

Ultimately, the railway is to be the basic and fastest way to move around GZM. Its creation is a process. GZM is already deepening tariff integration with regional railways, financing additional connections and providing financing for the own contribution of cities that implement their investments under the government program Rail+

GZM's tasks

Education and development

GZM supports universities in improving the quality of their educational offer and promotes the possibility of studying under the GZM Campus brand. Thanks to the Metropolis, universities can invite world-class scientists, and young researchers from Silesia and Zagłębie can conduct their research

Economy

GZM supports the economy by promoting the region, attracting investors and building international cooperation networks. It creates a Resilience Fund that strengthens the resilience of cities and municipalities to crises, thanks to which they implement investments that are important from the point of view of residents

Environment and climate

GZM actively works for the climate, taking care of clean air, counteracting drought and promoting a closed-loop economy. In addition, it develops climate education by creating rain gardens and a number of other initiatives

Free time

GZM is not only an attractive place to live, study or work, but also to relax and spend free time. To strengthen this message, it organizes events such as Kierunek GZM – the largest micro-trip festival in Poland, or the GZM Theatre Night. In 2027, the city of Katowice and GZM will be the Polish Capital of Culture

Electric Metrobike

After the success of the yellow Metrobike GZM is moving further towards developing alternative forms of mobility. Electric Metrobike electric rental is a new idea for city travel, but also a possibility to test this solution without a large investment

New transport system

The system helps passengers travel conveniently by public transport across the GZM. It works fully online, and passengers no longer have to encode their tickets on cards or wait for them to appear in their accounts – tickets are available to passengers immediately after purchasing them
