Green KNM 2024
We strive to minimize the environmental impact of the congress by implementing sustainable solutions
Reduction of energy consumption
We save energy and use electricity efficiently throughout the congress. EXPO Łódź is cooled and heated using geothermal energy, independent of city sources. Photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roof to support water heating.
Emission reduction
As part of the congress, we will launch an EV Shuttle for special guests. There is a charging zone for partners arriving in electric cars. We encourage our guests to use public transport and city bicycles.
Reduction of consumption
Event organization generates emissions, not only from transportation but also from catering, accommodation, and technology. At every stage of the event planning, we seek to reduce the use of plastic and print, while promoting segregation and recycling.
Supply reduction
We choose local, sustainable suppliers. We promote reusable dishes and reduce food waste. We also support vegan catering, which has a lower environmental impact and cost compared to animal-based products.
Attractions in Łódź
The city, which cannot be pigeonholed, offers guests plenty of attractions
ul. Piotrkowska
(2,2 km od EXPO)
One of the most well-known streets in Poland, and also the longest pedestrian street in Poland, is a symbol of the city. The tenements and palaces along ul. Piotrkowska house shops, restaurants, cafes, gardens, pubs, and music clubs. While strolling along Piotrkowska, it is also worth checking out the renovated courtyards, including the one that houses the OFF Piotrkowska restaurant district.
Manufaktura
(4,2 km od EXPO)
Today’s cultural and entertainment center was built on the site of a former textile factory. It previously housed a spinning mill, weaving mill, and printing press. The vast space accommodates not only numerous shops, but also cultural centers, museums, a theatre, and cinema, as well as various cafés and restaurants for small and large catering needs.
EC1
(3,3 km od EXPO)
The first urban power plant in Łódź consists of two blocks: EC1 East, launched in 1907, and EC1 West, built in the interwar period. Today, it is home to Poland’s most modern planetarium, the National Film Culture Centre, the Centre for Comics and Interactive Narration and the Science and Technology Centre – the largest facility of its kind in the country.
